Protest

Image Description: At the top of the image, a bold caption reads:
"HELEN KELLER DAY PROTEST: JUSTICE FOR THE DEAFBLIND”.
A vintage-style satirical cartoon depicts a nervous-looking Brandon Cox in a corporate suit standing in front of an office building labeled "LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired." A towering figure of Helen Keller looms above him, appearing to scold him. In the foreground, miniature DeafBlind protesters with white canes and protest signs—reading “DeafBlind Lives Matter” and “Decertify LightHouse Now”—demonstrate outside the building. The sky is cloudy, and the tone is tense and critical.
At the bottom, the caption reads:
Friday, June 27, 2025. 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Ed Roberts Campus, Berkeley, CA 94703.
Support us by showing up, volunteering, or signing our petition.
Why Protest?
LightHouse continues to be a place where people experience various forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Together, we can end this cycle of nonsense.
Join us to celebrate Keller’s life and legacy, learn about her contributions to disability rights, and demand loudly for change at LightHouse. As Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
Sign Up Form
Please take a moment to fill out this form. This will help us know how many people we can expect to show up at the protest. We are looking for volunteer interpreters, Co-Navigators, guides, drivers, and others (please specify). If you have any questions, please contact us at decertifysflh@gmail.com.
What to Expect
This will be a peaceful, engaging, and educational event that raises awareness about the San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind’s failure to support the DeafBlind community in California.
We appreciate any support you can offer.
Let us get together for equal access and fair treatment!
Where to Meet
We will hold the protest at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley, CA.*
*As the date approaches, we will coordinate guides and provide additional details.
